Europeana's new Data Exchange Agreement (DEA)

Europeana is preparing to put a new data echange agreement into action, that will replace the existing agreements they have with content providers. Europeana has set up a webpage to inform about the progress of discussions and the details of this new Data Exchange Agreement (DEA): http://www.version1.europeana.eu/web/europeana-project/newagreement

According to the Data Exchange Transition Schedule the old agreements end by December 31st. However there will be a "grace period" until the ned of June 2012.

The Data Exchange Agreement has been adopted by the Europeana Foundation and can be accessed here: http://www.version1.europeana.eu/c/document_library/get_file?uuid=deb216a5-24a9-4259-9d7c-b76262e4ce55&groupId=10602

DEA Grace Period

Does this mean that institutions can hand in their signed DEA by end of June? The grace period does not just apply for the re-harvest?

DEA Grace Period

The Data Exchange Transition Schedule1 says on page 1:

"There will be a grace period until the end of June during which Europeana will re-harvest any datasets from providers that wish to have their data updated in Europeana. Only after the 1st of July 2012 will the CC0 license apply to the data. The grace period gives enough time to the partners to update or have their data removed from Europeana.

After the end of the grace period, that is, after July the 1st 2012 all data that is in Europeana, for which there is no DEA covering them, will be disabled in the portal, in the APIs and in any other Europeana’s distribution means."
